A hand model I shall not be.

The only thing I don't like about this time of year is the way that it completely dries out my hands. They are dry to the point of painful. Complete with cracking and bleeding and snagging on wool objects. It's uber attractive.

I'm convinced that there isn't a lotion out there that will help. Sure there are some decent ones on the market, but they all seem to be dirt magnets. Within hours, I feel like every particle of dirt floating around the atmosphere has attached itself to the lotion on my hands. So I go and wash them, thus removing the lotion and putting me right back where I started. In pain. It's a disappointing cycle, so I usually just suffer in silence. I'm quite the martyr.

What's even more unfair is that my husband has hands like babies' butts. They are quite possibly the softest hands in all of North America. Definitely softer than 99.9% of men and probably softer than 95% of women. And that's without a lick of lotion! I don't get it.

So those hands that you see modeling beautiful jewelry in magazines or perfectly pointing out products on the Price is Right, ain't mine.

I have really disgusting winter hands! They become dried out to the point of bleeding. I've tried many a lotion too, and hardly any seem to work. The ones that I have had some luck with: Lubriderm for Extra Dry Skin, and Mary Kay's satin hands cream. The MK lotion is too scented for my liking though. Have you tried wearing a lotion-glove to bed? That has worked for me.

I shook hands with a lady at an Ad Club thing yesterday--her hand were like BUTTUH.

I asked what she was using--Bath and Body Works SHEA Cashmere hand cream--DIVINE--and not overly stinky

Apparently I am naturally lubed. I am not convinced that is a good thing. Soft hands = good. Naturally oily = not so good. Then again, I never really had acne problems growing up.

I must be a marvel of modern man. You'd think I do nothing with my hands at all.

You really need to try Curel Ultra Healing (frangrance free and non-greasy). Or Eucerin brand lotion, which is strongly recommended for diabetics and their hands and feet.

I get really bad hands during the winter but Terry's are just horrible. I look at them and want to cry for him they are so bad. When I go home I will get the name of the lotion he uses.

And something we both do (at least a few nights a week) that REALLY helps is go to the store and buy some white, washable, thin spa gloves. They have them at Meijer. They are of a thin material and fit pretty tight. We just lather on a TON of the lotion he likes and sleep all night with the gloves on. 8 hours of warm, lathered up hands is great. I didn't think I would like sleeping that way, but it isn't that big of deal...you just look a little silly going to bed - but it works!

My hands get bad in the winter, fall, spring, and well, they tend to get bad when I don't constantly upkeep them...which is annoying.

I have found that using "treatments" like Mary Kay satin hands or a sea salt rub every few days with the addition of lotion every single time I wash my hands makes them good. It's a constant effort for sure.

Oh, I forgot to add that sometimes before I go to bed, I actually put Neosporin on my cuticles, and I mean really goop it on there. I don't even mess with cuticle oil because I don't think it works.

I have the same issue. My hands are painful, sore, cracked and bleed. I don't keep up with my cream regimen for my hands. I think though that I have eczema only on my hands b/c that runs in my family. (weird)

I am going to try the Mary Kay thing this year since I'm starting to sell it!!!! I'll let you know.... I'll be getting some in soon if you need some!

I used to use that expensive Neutrogena stuff and Eucerin. They helped.

And, the Mary Satin hands collection is pretty fab. I'd glop that stuff on and sleep with white cotton socks on my hands.

Yup, Craig's one lucky guy.

I swear by Pro-guard...I have no idea if you can buy it retail, as I buy it in huge sizes from Fisher Scientific for work...but it is fantastic. It also helps with the comfort of latex gloves, if that is something that concerns you ;) LOL.

I'd like to submit another vote for the Mary Kay Satin Hands treatment. I love that stuff. But I use Bath and Body Works' Glove Me Tender instead of the stinky hand cream that comes with the MK set.
